What We Offer

member

We are a family friendly shooting club that want to encourage all people to have a go at Clay pigeon shooting.

We do not have a minimum or maximum age for shooting the shotgun, we only ask that they can follow instruction and be strong enough to lift the shotgun and take some recoil from the shot.

We are committed to making the experience as enjoyable as possible for everyone - including those who wish to support family and friends but not shoot themselves.

The Clubhouse, cafe and stunning views will allow them to enjoy the experience and time whilst waiting. Alternatively, should they wish to watch they are welcome to so long as they stay in a safe position, wearing ear and eye protection whilst in the shooting area.

Novices (Have a go) will be provided with tuition given by a member including safety and methodology. You will then be given a 'loan gun' and taken around the course whilst being given tips and hints to improve your shot. This is included in the price of the 'have a go' option, further information is available on the price list page.

If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact us or visit us at the club for our fortnightly shoots.

Safety / Rules

Clay Pigeon Shooting is a fun, safe activity, if we all follow some simple rules.

Safety Rules

  1. Treat every gun as LOADED even if you are certain it is not.
  2. Never point a gun at anyone or anything except when about to fire at a target.
  3. No guns to be loaded unless in the stand, and pointed down range.
  4. Never for any reason turn from facing the traps & targets whilst your gun is loaded.
  5. Cartridges and empty cases MUST be removed from your gun before turning away from the stands.
  6. All guns to be carried sleeved, or broken. Semi-Autos, if not sleeved, must display a safety flag to show to all that the breech is empty.
  7. When carrying a gun, do so in such a way that you can control the direction of the muzzle, even if you stumble.
  8. Never leave your gun unattended unless you have first made sure it is unloaded.
  9. No guns to be closed or mounted inside the club house.
  10. Ear protection must be worn. It is recommended that eye protection is also worn.
  11. Never mix cartidge sizes (Bore / Gauge) when attending any kind of shoot.
  12. When you enter your car, club or home, carry only an EMPTY gun, taken down or with the action open.
  13. New shooters will be accompanied by a member of the club.
  14. Never look upon gun accidents as misfortunes which befall other people.

General Club Rules

  1. 'Signing in' to shoot is open between 9:30 and 10:30 on shoot days. This will give everyone chance to shoot the available activities in the morning before we need to pack away.
  2. By 'Signing in', you have accepted and will abide by the SAFETY RULES.
  3. No shot larger than No. 7
  4. Fibre wad ammunition must be used on all shoots.
  5. Shooting LIVE quarry is strictly PROHIBITED.
  6. Do not stray from the marked paths, under any circumstances.
  7. The shooting of anything other than the clay targets is forbidden during the process of issue. Pattern plating, shockproof testing of materials et cetera; will only be conducted after the normal shooting activities have ceased. During these activities the following will be adhered to:
    1. All participating members will wear eye protection
    2. Due regard will be given to the shot deflecting/rebounding nature of the surface being used or tested, absorbent material being preferred. The likely ultimate direction of any shot should be assessed.
    3. See all other non-participating members and attendees should be at least a hundred yards away and out of the line of fire and adjudged deflection areas
    4. A safety officer must be present to review the setup and oversee the activity.
